In case anyone is wondering what’s going on right now, Elon banned a bunch of journalists and rival social media companies like Mastodon for “doxxing” him
(Read: posting publicly available info about where his jet goes, which most of them weren’t even talking about anyway)
But the suspended accounts could still access Twitter Space, so a bunch of journalists got together in a packed Space to talk about what happened
He shows up, calling in FROM THE JET IN QUESTION, refuses to actually answer any of the questions posed to him, and exits again
Less than half an hour later, (I was in the chat at this time), it goes down - Space is now inaccessible to EVERYONE on Twitter, just because of this one single room
LIVE DEVELOPMENTS HAPPENING AS WE SPEAK
So it’s in the notes here, too, I’ve posted a recording someone did of when he was in the Space
As of about 20 minutes ago, with full knowledge that tonight’s events are going to be ALL OVER the news in about ~6 hours:
Oh - and the like and retweet buttons are broken now, too. You can’t use them from your feed. You can use them directly from the tweet you’re trying to interact with.
This isn’t Twitter. This isn’t your average every day site. This is Tumblr. We’re crazy. We’re weird. We don’t fit in. We’re the fangirls, the fujoshis, the Superwholockers, and the Steven Universe Critical bloggers. We forgot what “normal” was. So if you’re expecting a normal website…
This is the tumblr equivalent of those silhouettes of dogs people put out to scare away wildlife
This is called direct registering and it is super cool to watch in slow motion!
I had no idea what I just watched, so here’s why this is cool:
Cats are capable of walking very precisely because, like all felines, they directly register; that is, they place each hind paw (almost) directly in the print of the corresponding fore paw, minimizing noise and visible tracks. This also provides sure footing for their hind paws when they navigate rough terrain.
their front paws have whisker like hairs on them, a little bit behind the pad, so they have greater sensory input on their front paws and so can ensure a sure footing once, putting their hind paws on directly the same spot means that, for the same processing power and focus, they can ensure sure footing on all four paws with only two sets of foot whiskers.
[video id: a short-haired white cat walks in slow motion along the crest of a sand dune, placing her hind paws directly into the indents left by her front paws of the same side so she leaves only a single set of tracks. She then turns to walk down the side of the dune, slipping a bit in the loose sand and beginning to run, but still maintaining her direct registering. end id]
“We found that the answer is a very long time. In fact, if you pause a cat after the front legs, but not the hind legs, have stepped over an object, it will remember the exact size and position of the object [without looking at it] for up to 10 minutes.
Shout-out to @ms-demeanor for putting these on my dash again, I’d like to add this exceptional interview question “answer guide” that explains traps and “the best” way to answer over 64 common questions. I don’t know who to attribute it to, but here it is: PDF from tri valley one-stop career center.
Hey some of these answer templates helped J get an offer letter from her dream job; strongly recommend you read them if you’re job hunting
Lmao talk about the epitome of all hyperbolies, no one is trying to remove 5 year old penis. You’re trying to fight one aspect opposing conservative views with a shoddy scarecrow argument meant as a scare tactic.
A fetus can’t be considered a living being if it can’t survive outside a womb on its own. Therefore a majority of laws restricting abortions are about controlling women rather than protecting life.
